Matt Morrison
In the trenches with you. Figuring it out one day at a time.
Matt wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until his early 30s. Before that, he spent years in sales - a career that demands consistent follow-through, reliable time management, and the ability to juggle dozens of moving pieces without dropping any of them. He did all of that with a brain that processes time differently, struggles with task initiation, and can’t generate motivation from importance alone.
When the diagnosis came, nobody explained what ADHD actually looked like in daily life. Nobody connected the dots between why he could redesign an entire website overnight but couldn’t remember to water the plant sitting right next to his desk. He tried every planner, every system, every piece of advice. Each one worked for about two weeks before the overwhelm crashed in.
Then came Dallas. Three months that became the worst of his life - drowning in debt, cut off from everyone he cared about, crushed under anxiety and depression he couldn’t name or understand. A phone call from a friend changed everything. He packed up and drove home to Pennsylvania, found a therapist who understood how ADHD, anxiety, and depression dance together, and started rebuilding.
But therapy gave him understanding - not a daily system. Not a way to handle 47 urgent thoughts at once. Not a way to start when his body refused to move. That’s when he stopped trying to fix his brain and started designing for it.
Built For Chaos is the collection of those systems. The ones that survived. The ones that bend instead of break when life gets chaotic. Not written from a mountaintop of ADHD enlightenment - written from inside the chaos, by someone who got tired of trying to install PC software on a Mac brain.
The Human AF Method
Most productivity advice comes from people whose brains work in straight lines. When you try to force web-thinking into linear systems, everything breaks down. The Human AF Method is a 6-step framework designed specifically for ADHD brains - Notice, Normalize, Name, Narrow, Nudge, Nurture.
Every tool in Built For Chaos maps back to these steps. It’s the cycle your brain already runs - the book just makes it visible and gives you systems to work with it instead of against it.
“I got tired of trying to install PC software on my Mac brain.”
Authentic Mess Studios
Built For Chaos is published by Authentic Mess Studios - Matt’s studio focused on ADHD in real life. Not the sanitized, “here are 10 tips” version. The real, messy, sometimes-you-forget-to-eat version. The goal is simple: build tools that fit your brain instead of demanding you become someone you’re not.
